Aim of Belief: Anandi Hattiangadi- 'Doxastic Normativity'
Here you can listen to and download Anandi Hattiangadi's talk 'Doxastic Normativity' at the CSMN conference the Aim of Belief, 13th of June 2009.
Abstract
Recently, a number of philosophers have defended the idea that belief is constitutively governed by a norm of truth. In this paper, I will further develop a line of objection to this view which I have presented in previous work (Bykvist and Hattiangadi 2007). I will arrive at what I take to be the most plausible formulation of the doxastic truth norm, and argue that this norm is not plausibly regarded as constitutive of belief.
